Understanding Termite Detection Challenges
Termite detection traditionally involves methods like visual inspections and manual probing. These conventional approaches require trained professionals to inspect areas visually for signs of termites, such as mud tubes, damaged wood, and termite droppings (frass).
They also use probing tools to tap on wood surfaces to detect hollow areas caused by termite activity.
These traditional methods are valued for their directness and simplicity, allowing inspectors to rely on their senses and experience to spot termite issues.
However, termites often inhabit areas that are not visible or accessible, living deep within wooden structures or behind walls. Consequently, even thorough visual inspections and probing might miss some infestations until they have caused noticeable damage.
